NOSTALGIA College days always present chequerred and memorable events and most people treasure those events life-long. Those days with full of freedom, especially when students are hostelers, staying away from their home, indulged in all sorts of adventures, fun even and romances, gives much pride to students of both genders. Even though skipping of classes were common during college days everywhere ,frequent bunking and all never helped anyone. Those having different opinion had got casualties eventually. In fact ,if the teacher(Lecturer or Professor),is not well equipped to deliver good lectures, lack motivation and in depth in the subject , most students bunk such classes. It is a sad sight that good teachers with proper motivation .are becoming a rare species now-a-days. . College festivals and annual days including youth festivals are generally held before April in most of the institutions, since seniors have exams right from first April. April may also be a cruelest moth, with preparations galore for various entrance and competitive tests .This grills are really boring ...Here I feel that for most of the students April would be cruelest month with power cuts and water shortage. Imagine the conditions when water in the taps suddenly drips and eventually stops before one finish bathing... Eliot was quite right in depicting the cruel moth of April in every sense, even though his perception then was totally different from ours.. We in our late fifties and even the sixties cherish for those lost golden college days and try to to draw energy, happiness and inspiration from the past ,....unsuccessfully... In the world of material comforts, when one gets every things as virtual images and reflections, when most of us spend hours in face books and twitters,we miss such passions and real adventures, miss compassion and love and shrink terribly to core as selfish mortals. ,April cast s a cruel and grim nest over us and we are caught and pushed deep in to the fathomless abyss..... You may disagree..but the reality is quite different...

A large number of keralites are working in gulf countries as unskilled workers. Where as sizable chunk of malayalis are in skilled sectors,.This include doctors, engineers, nurses, and techinicians etc. The last global recession has affected badly on the job prospects of this unskilled malayalis working as labourers across the middle-east countries and many have lost their jobs and returned. If the present trend continues, we can expect huge exodus from gulf countries in the near future.Since keralites are more in numbers having employed in gulf, than the rest of the states, this financial melt down will have greater impact on our economy. The gulf malayalis had a boon of days in their career during the seventies and eighties... It is a fact that this majority of gulf malayalees have not made their savings in any productive ventures for future benifits. Most of them have spent their savings of hard earned income on posh houses etc in unproductive way. Where as, a sizable numbers have saved their hard earned money quite effectively for future requirements. It is a fact that these gulf malayalees have contributed much for the boost of our indian economy by foreign remittances . As such, it is the duty of the state and the country at large to help them in times of distress. The government of India has not made any concrete plans for their rehabilitation, .There fore,State government has to play the lead roles for their benefit. It is true that State government has made some packages for the benifit of gulf returnees If the gulf malayalis who are returning from various gulf countries ,having lost jobs as a result of global economic recession, have no money for their future requirements in the country, who is responsible for this? Definitely these gulf malayalees are responsible for this sort of affairs. The y shouuld have planned their future well in advance and invested properly for future requirements.. It is indeed a great task for the state to rehablitate these gulf returnees properly,.since the state its self is reeling under economic pressures deficit for various developmental works. The NORKA cell in kerala can play a great role in this regard with the help of state and union government. We must create a gulf cell with efficient staff to address the problems of gulf malayalees being reutrned from gulf countries ;jobless. The government of kerala must prepare a detailed gulf package for rehabilitation . It is a sad sight that currently we do not have any concrete details of oversees employees with the government,As a first step , we must record the details of all malayalis working abroad in all categories of profession, including those working in gulf countries . Subsequently, the details of those who have lost overseas jobs and returned are to be recorded. This system has to a permanent set up and these recorded datas have to be up dated quite effectively for future retrieval. Several welfare measures for the needy gulf returenees are required. The contrib ution and help from the gulf malayalis may be utilised along with the fund from the state and centre for this economic welfare packages. Dedicated and sincere employees must be posted in the cell under the efficient coordination of a ablest bureaucrat for this purpose. Because the the amount allocated for the welfare measures of gulf returenees shall not be lapsed and given to the eligible persons alone as per correct records, unlilke the case with various welfareschemes of our government jettisoned by the bureaucrates and officials... Certain privileges and concessions may be extended to the gulf returnees for starting small industries . Proper funding may be made available to them as per their requirements form various banks . What we want is not slogans for electoral prospects but clear cut actions with sincerity and dedication for the welfare of needy gulf returnees, With the help of NORKA, State government may even think of implementing pension schemes and other welfare measures for needy the gulf malayalis on contributory basis , through LIC or Banks for the benifit of malayalis now working in gulf countries as per their requirements and cooperations,as a precaution.. Hope that government of kerala come forward with detailed gulf packages for the benefit of gulf malayalis being returned from gulf countries unemployed. Provision for right to exercise the franchise in election for non-resident indians is a good step in the right direction. The law must be made more transparent in case of proxy voting etc. Now this is a good time for gulf indians especially for gulf-malayalis as a result of rupee depreciation. ;Gulf malayalis have saved crores and crores in indian rupee by remittance to India following the huge depreciation of rupee. Gulf currencies have heav ily appreciated over Indian rupee, thereby they can save huge amount by remittance to India. This situatiion would notlast long and I hope that the amoun t they could save would atleast be used sensisbly for their future requirements. New welfare measures including pension scheme for repatriate gulf malayalis must be implemented with out further delay. Hope that government of kerala under the steward ship of Mr. OOmmen Chandy and ministry at the centre for ;non-resident Indians under M r.vayalar Ravi would work in tandem for effective implementation of gulf malayalis who have many problems to be addressed with.

BAN LOTTERY SYSTEMS IN KERALA IN A PHASED MANNER

Strictly speaking, lottery system is a social evil like gambling. But this is a lesser evil when campared with the latter. Lottery was introduced in the state with a good intention to generate more revenue to meet fund for various developmental works when we had huge fiscal deficit .This deficit budgeting never improved over the years but the gap widened year after year. < The lottery system has undoubtedly exploited the poor mortals indulged in day dreams of becoming rich overnight without toil. Poor labourers spend their meagre income on lottery tickets and liquors casting a gloomy and sordid picuture of starvation at their homes. Where as, thousands of unemployed youth and even elders unfit for any type of work buy lottery tickets on borrowed money with great expectation and later turn drunkards out of frustation. This is indeed one of the many bad effects of lottery concept. Kerala is basically a consumer state and this particular environ has florished the lottery movements. Now we have several lotteries run by the state under directorate of lotteries ,in addition to many lotteries from other states. This includes various on line lotteries and paper lotteries. Eventhough on-line lotteries and other single digit lotteries have been banned in Kerala, lottery mafias have florished in the state over the years. We keralites are more greedy unlike people from other states and want to make quick money without any work. As long as this concept remain in each one of us, many more lotteries will come and exploit us. It is high time to ban the very system of lotteries in the state in a phased manner. We must find some other source of income for our developmental works and it should not be at the expense of common mortals. We have banned alcohol in the state. We should also ban lotteries and other games similar to gamblilng. Other wise, the very society will be ruined .It is high time for government of Kerala to look in to this grave matter and take urgent remedial measures like total ban of lotteries in a phased manner. ..........................................................

WORDS

Thoughts conceived
deep in the heart
And words got  ejaculated
In to the paper,its womb
and got multiplied.
It perfected the chain of thought

I longed  for her
My conjugate on earth
the paragon of love
She was mad and sad

My heart ails..

Thoughts conceived again
Through the pen
In to the paper
And made love with it..
A wild tremor
She fell in torpor
Like a frigid woman

Words poured out
In to the whiteness of the flesh..
Got wings and flew in to the air,
In to the vacuum
Like Promethius
With the stolen fire
From heaven to earth

Words made love
And got multiplied
They perfected the chain of time
The rhythm of thought
Which went in to the womb of words

The frigid woman
The stark reality
She turned her sides in the bed
As if dissatisfied
Like a sensuous woman
She yearned for him
The conjugate on earth
But he turned the table
Like a naughty boy
My wanton girl,
The naked truth
The paragon of love

Words are like hot kisses
Elevates one into intoxication
When lost, burns one's heart bit by bit
And sinks one in to the bay of agony.
Like a stingy woman
worried and tired

And at last words stopped
It got estrangled in my pen
In its womb..
And turned martyres
On the heroic fields...

_______
LULU- MY SWEET HEART
-------------------------------------------

Leaves come out of the branches
like an uninvited guest-
Birds flew away as if scared.
In the woods here comes Lulu
My sweeet heart
A wanton girl-a Gypsie's dream

Like a bird with clipped wings
Her face covered in her hands
Vibrant and coy
sweet and fresh
Like a rose just bloomed in the spring
She is Lulu.

My heart thumps and thuds
sending my BP high

My thoughts went into the past
The wind in the paddy field
Hugs me like a college girl
Slowly then steadily
"Look look the mark on the flesh",she said:
I love more veins than roots
Envelope me with your kiss,I cried.
She came from behind
And stood before me
Radiating her charm all around.
I know the woman from tip to toe
More lovely in her bones
When she moved,
She moved more ways than one
The shape brightens the container it contains..
Her lilquid flesh .
Oh -her voice pleasing and cooing
She stroked my chin
Which came down-
Down to my feet
The touch of her body
So pallid and undulent
Her breast heaved under pressure
While her lips persued....
She played it quick,then slow..
My eyes dazed
And I got rocked.
she moved her hips
With a magical spell
So enchanting and pretty
Her body was freak
And translucent through her dress..
Which sends my senses mad
And nerves hot-
I lost the meaning of time
Both past and present
I know she is beautiful..
More cute than any gift you cherish..
So Like a God I sat besides her
Quite unperterbed

Then she vanished in no time
In to the thin air like a nymph

I got stunned..
And fell straight in to the abyss of agony
But persued her in my dreams.......
Ever since..
